What SpokeX Needed From Their New Platform
SpokeX sells high-end bicycle components and accessories. Their previous website? It failed to showcase product details properly. Customers struggled to find compatible parts for specific bike models. Too many abandoned carts at checkout. Mobile users had it even worse.
The SpokeX team came to us with clear objectives. Faster page loads. Better product filtering. A checkout that actually converts. We listened, asked a lot of questions, and proposed a ground-up Shopify build tailored to their catalog structure.
Technical Solutions We Implemented
Building an effective cycling store requires understanding how enthusiasts shop. They search by bike type, component category, brand, and compatibility — often all at once. We created a multi-layered filtering system that handles these parameters simultaneously. Results update instantly. No full page reloads.
Product pages received special attention during development. Each item displays technical specifications in an organized format. The visual language of the SpokeX store reflects cycling culture. Clean lines. Generous white space. Photography that highlights product craftsmanship rather than lifestyle fluff. Color palette? Carbon fiber and anodized aluminum tones — what you'd expect from premium bike parts.
Navigation follows how cyclists actually think about purchases. Main menu organizes products by bike type first, then component category. A secondary navigation bar gives quick access to popular brands and current promotions.
We paid close attention to typography and readability throughout. Body text uses a sans-serif font at comfortable sizes. Headlines create visual hierarchy without overwhelming anything. Technical specifications appear in monospace — easier to scan that way.
The mobile experience got equal consideration from day one. Here's what we focused on:
- touch targets that meet accessibility standards without feeling cramped;
- swipe gestures that work naturally on product galleries;
- cart drawer that slides from the right without disrupting browsing;
- sticky add-to-cart buttons on longer product pages;

Results After Launch
SpokeX saw measurable improvements within the first month. Average session duration increased by 65 percent. Bounce rate dropped from 58 to 34 percent. Most importantly, conversion rates nearly doubled compared to the old platform.
Mobile sales grew even faster than desktop. The responsive design and optimized checkout removed barriers that previously cost sales. Customer service inquiries about orders decreased as the tracking system became more transparent.
