Migrating Multiple Bannerprinting Stores From WooCommerce to Shopify
Bannerprinting needed to move several active regional ecommerce stores from WooCommerce to Shopify without disrupting their existing content, product catalog, or commercial operations.
The challenge was not simply to move products from one platform to another. Each regional store had its own content and location-specific structure, while the migration also needed to preserve important URLs, maintain the existing catalog organization, and establish a reliable system for inventory and warehouse management on Shopify.
The project focused on:
- migrating multiple active WooCommerce stores to Shopify;
- preserving existing content, pages, articles, and media;
- transferring the product catalog and adapting categories to Shopify Collections;
- maintaining important URL structures for SEO;
- configuring Shopify Locations and inventory management;
- validating products, stock availability, links, redirects, and site structure before launch.
Planning a Multi-Store Shopify Migration
Moving a single ecommerce store between platforms is already a complex process. Migrating several regional stores adds another layer of complexity because the content, catalog, and structure need to remain consistent while still reflecting the requirements of each individual location.
For Bannerprinting, we approached the migration as a multi-store Shopify implementation rather than a simple data export and import.
The work covered several connected areas:
- content migration;
- product and catalog migration;
- regional store adaptation;
- inventory and warehouse configuration;
- URL and redirect management;
- final technical validation.
This allowed the stores to transition to Shopify while maintaining the core structure that existing customers and search engines were already familiar with.
Migrating Existing Content Without Losing the Site Structure
One of the main requirements was to preserve the existing content of the Bannerprinting stores.
We migrated the site's existing:
- pages;
- articles;
- informational content;
- images;
- other required media assets.
The goal was not simply to reproduce the content on a new platform. The migration also needed to preserve the core content structure and important URLs wherever possible.
This is particularly important during a platform migration because changes to URLs and content organization can affect both user navigation and organic search performance.
As part of the process, we reviewed the resulting Shopify structure and configured the necessary Shopify redirects to help maintain continuity between the old and new versions of the stores.
WooCommerce Product Catalog Migration to Shopify
The product catalog was another major part of the migration.
We transferred the core product information from WooCommerce into Shopify, including:
- product names;
- product descriptions;
- product images;
- key product attributes;
- catalog organization.
The existing WooCommerce categories also had to be adapted to the Shopify data model.
Instead of reproducing the category system exactly as it existed in WooCommerce, we mapped the catalog structure to Shopify Collections, creating an organization that works naturally within the new platform.
After the migration, we checked the product pages and catalog structure to make sure that the transferred information was displayed correctly and that products remained properly organized.
This created a more reliable foundation for ongoing Shopify product catalog management.
Adapting Multiple Regional Stores
Bannerprinting operated several regional stores, which meant the migration could not be treated as a single generic storefront deployment.
Each store had to retain its appropriate location-specific structure and content while moving to the same underlying ecommerce platform.
Our work included:
- migrating the individual regional stores;
- adapting each store to its corresponding location;
- validating regional content;
- checking product catalogs;
- verifying that the resulting Shopify stores maintained their expected structure.
This approach allowed Bannerprinting to move multiple existing ecommerce operations to Shopify while preserving the distinctions between the regional storefronts.
Shopify Locations and Inventory Management
Inventory management was another important part of the migration.
The new Shopify setup required an appropriate structure for Locations, warehouses, and product availability. We configured the store's locations and established the necessary relationship between products, inventory, and available quantities.
The work included:
- configuring Shopify Locations;
- setting up inventory management;
- checking product stock levels;
- validating available quantities;
- verifying the relationship between products and their corresponding locations.
This was particularly important because inventory availability needs to remain reliable after a platform migration. A product can be transferred successfully from a technical perspective while still producing incorrect availability information if the underlying location and inventory structure is not configured correctly.
For Bannerprinting, inventory validation therefore formed an important part of the overall migration process.
Technical Shopify Configuration After the Migration
Once the core content and catalog data had been transferred, we configured the essential Shopify store settings and reviewed the resulting site structure.
The technical work included:
- configuring the main Shopify store settings;
- checking page and collection structures;
- setting up required redirects;
- reviewing internal links;
- validating the resulting URL structure;
- checking the migrated catalog;
- performing final pre-launch testing.
This stage was important because migration issues are not always visible immediately after data import. A product may exist but have incorrect availability. A page may be present but have the wrong URL. A collection may contain products but not reflect the intended catalog hierarchy.
The final validation process helped identify and resolve these issues before the stores went live on the new platform.
A Controlled Migration From WooCommerce to Shopify
The Bannerprinting project demonstrates that a successful WooCommerce to Shopify migration is about much more than transferring database records.
The migration had to account for several layers of an active ecommerce business at the same time:
- content and media needed to remain available;
- products and descriptions needed to transfer correctly;
- categories needed to be adapted to Shopify Collections;
- regional storefronts needed to retain their individual structure;
- inventory and locations needed to work correctly;
- URLs and redirects needed to be reviewed for continuity;
- the complete storefront needed to be tested before launch.
By treating these areas as parts of one migration process, we were able to move the Bannerprinting stores to Shopify without rebuilding their ecommerce presence from the ground up.
The Result: A Unified Shopify Foundation for Multiple Stores
The Bannerprinting migration successfully moved several active regional WooCommerce ecommerce stores to Shopify, including their core content, product catalogs, media, and commercial infrastructure.
The resulting Shopify setup provides a unified platform for managing:
- products and catalogs;
- regional storefronts;
- Shopify Collections;
- locations and inventory;
- content and media;
- redirects and site structure.
For Crocode, Bannerprinting is a strong example of multi-store Shopify migration where the priority is not simply changing platforms, but preserving an existing ecommerce operation while creating a more manageable foundation for future growth.
The project combines WooCommerce to Shopify migration, catalog restructuring, regional store adaptation, Shopify inventory management, URL preservation, and technical validation into one controlled ecommerce migration process.

Why customers stay with us for a long time
Shopify web development agency do not work as contractors who just «work out the task», but as partners who think the same way as you, the business owner. For us, not only the process is important, but also the real result: sales growth, customer loyalty, and investment efficiency. That's why we don't just make a website or run ads — we are responsible for making sure that these tools really work for your business.
Security is not a formality for us. We first implement all edits and updates into the test environment to check how they will affect the system. Our analysts study and verify everything beforehand. Backup is enabled by default, and access to critical data is strictly limited. Your business should not suffer because of technical experiments, so we act cautiously but confidently.
And most importantly, we measure success not by the number of pages created or banners launched, but by real business metrics: conversion growth, an increase in the average receipt for marketing, and an increase in the customer's lifetime value (LTV). If this does not happen, we return to the drawing board. Because for our team, a good result is not a completed order, but your satisfied customer and growing profit.
